Delivering Holiday Joy: How a School Bus Rental Helped Transport Thousands of Toys to Kids in Need

On a crisp December morning in San Jose, a familiar yellow school bus arrived with a special mission: delivering hope, generosity, and holiday joy to children in need.

This moment marked the culmination of Dharma Dog Rescues’ 6th annual Toys for Tots drive, made possible through a partnership with First Student Charter and the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.

A Community Tradition That Keeps Growing

Dharma Dog Rescues, a California-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is best known for rescuing dogs and finding them loving homes. But for the past six years, the organization has united the community around Toys for Tots, supporting families during the holidays.

In 2025, the goal was ambitious: collect and deliver 3,000 or more toys to children in need across the South Bay. Reaching that goal required a transportation solution that could scale with the mission.
